AAG January ’12 Overview/February Challenge

Welcome to (mid-late) February 2012, a new month, and a fresh start to life & music. I hope that this month everyone will become even more broadened to literally hundreds of bands, songs, styles, and messages, and maybe find some new favorites. Here listed in this edition of “AAG January ’12 Overview/February Challenge” there begins new views on music, starting now.
AAG Genres (or, AAG):

Acoustic
Alternative
Alternative Pop-Rock (such as Anberlin)
Alternative Metal
CCM (general)
Rock (+ Rap/Rock)
Heavy-Post-Hardcore-Metalcore (if I can call it that)/Metal
Country/Bluegrass
Disco/Dance
Worship
Pop (popular, upbeat-ish)
Punk-Pop (i.e. Relient K)
Rap/Hip Hop

If you have any other bands/minor-er genres (that are either well-known or ones you’ve actually heard of and listened to before now), post in the comments, including them in this list as BOLD. Those will also be included as an AAG band.
February Challenge: Listen to at least 1 song from at least 10 of the 100s (well, over 100 for sure) AAG bands listed here, writing down the song(s) name(s), and optionally a thought or 2 from its style, message, etc. - *star* the AAG bands that you did listen to, trying to listen to new bands as much as possible. Remember that we try to stay within the Christian or similar genres, but do slightly be open to non-christian/secular tracks as well, with of course a different view compared to Christian bands/songs.

  1. Hey everyone. Been a crazy month with SAT prep but i got a few new songs in and here are my findings. Instead of going by artist I'm going to just talk about a song/album from each.
Contact by As Cities Burn. This is the first track on the album which as a whole questions the existence of God from an outside view. It opens your eyes to how people outside see us and God. It's a great album to just really think.
World We View by Nine Lashes. A nice solid piece of work that isn't preachy but it is full of positive messages. Nice for the gym :P

That's all for now be back with more soon

  2. Thx, hrsofconspiracy (Daniel) and interesting track, Contact. I've lately been checking out As Cities Burn, and pretty nice stuff. For those who don't know, they kinda have the style of Underoath/Emery/The Almost type of sound, but always strong in presentation. Pretty cool band. and Nine Lashes is more rock and reminds me of RED personally. So check these and all those others mentioned in the posts out on spotify/youtube, however you listen to stuff.
